Saudi and German foreign ministers sign strategic dialogue agreement and discuss Strait of Hormuz

Saudi Arabia and Germany have agreed to establish a strategic dialogue between their foreign ministries, signing a memorandum of understanding in Berlin on Sunday.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met German Federal Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul to review the countries’ historic bilateral relations and discuss ways to deepen cooperation across several fields.

The agreement calls for consultation and coordination at the foreign-minister level. The two sides also discussed the current regional situation, with particular emphasis on the security and safety of international waterways and the need to preserve freedom of maritime navigation.

The ministers’ talks included the Strait of Hormuz, according to the meeting’s reported agenda.
