Saudi Arabia Arrests 7,760 in Residency, Labor, Border Security Crackdown

Saudi security forces apprehended 7,760 individuals for violating residency, labor, and border security laws in a nationwide crackdown. The operation, conducted between May 28 and June 3, saw joint inspections across the Kingdom.

Those who were arrested include 4,060 violators of the Residency Law, 2,574 violators of the Border Security Law, and 1,126 violators of the Labor Law.

Among those arrested, 4,060 were identified as residency violators, while 2,574 infringed upon border security regulations. An additional 1,126 individuals were found to be in violation of labor laws.

The total number of people who were arrested while trying to cross the border into the Kingdom accounted for 1,184, of whom 28 percent were Yemeni nationals, 70 percent Ethiopian nationals, and two percent belonged to other nationalities.

The Ministry of Interior reported that 1,184 people were apprehended attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally. Yemenis constituted 28 percent of these border crossers, with Ethiopians making up 70 percent, and other nationalities accounting for the remaining two percent. Furthermore, 25 individuals were caught trying to leave the country illegally.

In terms of processing, 4,690 illegal residents were deported. Another 14,495 violators were directed to their respective diplomatic missions to secure necessary travel documents. Additionally, 850 violators were referred to complete their travel arrangements, and 16 people were referred for further processing.
