Saudi Arabia Calls for International Action to Protect Jerusalem, End Gaza Violations at Jordan Ministerial Meeting

Saudi Arabia has called for decisive international action to protect Jerusalem and halt violations in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. The call came during a ministerial meeting hosted by Jordan aimed at bolstering support for Jerusalem and its holy sites.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, speaking at the gathering, expressed gratitude to Jordan for convening the meeting and acknowledged its historic role in safeguarding Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian heritage. Prince Faisal reiterated Riyadh's firm position: East Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Palestine. He stressed that all unilateral measures, including settlement expansion and land confiscation, are illegitimate and cannot alter the city's legal status or identity.

Prince Faisal strongly condemned the Israeli military actions in Gaza, describing them as a direct challenge to a comprehensive peace plan and a move that benefits those seeking to derail the peace process. He rejected any attempts to alter Jerusalem's legal, historical, or religious character, and criticized the misuse of religious freedom principles to justify actions that impose a new political reality driven by occupation.

The Saudi minister urged the global community to fulfill its responsibilities by taking concrete steps to cease violations in both Gaza and the West Bank. He called for the protection of holy sites, support for the Palestinian people's resilience, and a rejection of hate speech and supremacist rhetoric. Furthermore, he demanded accountability for incitement fueling violence and settler terrorism, aiming to end practices that jeopardize coexistence and peace.

Prince Faisal reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to collaborating with regional partners and the international community, including through initiatives like the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. He highlighted the Kingdom's belief that fostering mutual respect and coexistence among followers of the Abrahamic faiths is fundamental to advancing political efforts and achieving lasting peace.
