Saudi Arabia, France sign MoU to enhance health cooperation

Saudi Arabia and France have formalized their commitment to enhancing collaboration in the health sector through a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MoU). The agreement was executed by Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Alibrahim, acting on behalf of the Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel, and representatives from the French Ministry of Health, Families, Autonomy and Persons with Disabilities.

The signing ceremony took place in Paris on the sidelines of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman's official visit to the French Republic. This strategic partnership aims to strengthen cooperation across several key health domains. Priority areas include public health initiatives, bolstering health security, improving the governance of health systems, and elevating the quality of care and patient safety.

Furthermore, the MoU addresses preparedness and response mechanisms for health emergencies, alongside efforts to develop the health workforce and enhance professional capabilities. The collaboration also extends to the rapidly evolving fields of digital health and artificial intelligence, fostering innovation in research and development, and conducting clinical trials. Both nations will also work together on supply chains, pharmaceutical industries, and exploring investment opportunities within the health sector.

This memorandum signifies a deepening of the longstanding relationship between Saudi Arabia and France. It is built upon a foundation of existing ties and aims to leverage mutual strengths to achieve advancements in healthcare for both countries and potentially on a global scale.
