Saudi citizen arrested for transporting 13 Ethiopian border violators

Saudi authorities in the Jazan region have arrested a citizen for allegedly transporting 13 Ethiopian nationals who had violated the Kingdom's Border Security Law. The General Administration of Mujahideen apprehended the individual, who now faces severe penalties for facilitating illegal entry into Saudi Arabia.

The transporter has been transferred to the Public Prosecution, while the Ethiopian nationals were handed over to the relevant security authorities. This action underscores Saudi Arabia's strict enforcement of its border security measures.

According to a spokesperson for the General Administration of Mujahideen, facilitating the entry, transport, or sheltering of border security violators can result in penalties of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million. The penalties also include the confiscation of any vehicle used in the transportation. The spokesperson emphasized that such offenses are considered major crimes.

Saudi authorities are urging the public to report any violations related to residency, labor, and border security. Citizens can report such activities by calling 911 in specific regions or 999 and 996 in others. The authorities have assured that all reports will be handled with strict confidentiality and that informants will be protected from liability.
