Saudi customs seize 1,210 prohibited items in one week across border crossings

Saudi Arabia's Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) reported intercepting a significant number of prohibited items across the Kingdom's land, sea, and air ports in a single week. A total of 1,210 seizures were made, reflecting ongoing efforts to combat smuggling and maintain border security.

The confiscated items spanned a wide range, including 88 cases involving various narcotics such as cannabis, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and Captagon pills. Additionally, customs officials intercepted 402 other prohibited items, 2,425 tobacco products, 18 instances of undeclared cash, and three cases involving weapons and related materials.

ZATCA said it will continue tightening customs controls on the Kingdom's imports and exports in coordination with relevant government agencies to safeguard society and combat smuggling.
