Saudi Customs Seizes Over 1,000 Contraband Items at Ports

Saudi Customs ports have intensified their efforts against smuggling, recording 1,078 seizures of contraband last week. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) reported intercepting a wide range of illegal items across the Kingdom's land, sea, and air entry points.

Among the confiscated goods were 107 types of narcotics, including hashish, cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, and Captagon pills. Authorities also seized 402 other prohibited materials, demonstrating a broad scope of illegal activities being thwarted.

In addition to narcotics and other prohibited items, customs officials prevented attempts to smuggle 2,024 tobacco products and their derivatives. The seizures also extended to 30 types of cash and two types of weapons and related equipment, highlighting the diverse threats customs authorities are working to neutralize.

ZATCA emphasized its commitment to bolstering customs control over imports and exports to ensure societal security. The authority highlighted its ongoing cooperation and coordination with relevant partners to achieve these security objectives. The public is urged to assist in combating smuggling by reporting suspicious activities to help protect society and the national economy.
