Saudi-Malaysian security cooperation foils attempted smuggling of 505.6 kilograms of ketamine

Saudi and Malaysian authorities have foiled an attempted shipment of 505.6 kilograms of ketamine, in an operation Saudi Arabia presented as evidence of close security cooperation between the two countries.

Saudi Interior Ministry security spokesperson Brig. Gen. Talal bin Shalhoub said intelligence from the General Directorate of Narcotics Control was provided to Malaysian authorities. The information enabled the Anti-Narcotics Unit of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department to stop the smuggling attempt.

Bin Shalhoub praised the continuing operational coordination between Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, saying the joint success reflected strong security integration against transnational organized crime networks.

He said Saudi Arabia remained vigilant in tracking and dismantling criminal syndicates that target national security and young people with narcotics. He also linked the operation to coordinated international efforts against the illicit drug trade.
