Saxony-Anhalt CDU: Premier Schulze elected new parliamentary group leader

Two days after the CDU’s election defeat in Saxony-Anhalt, Premier Sven Schulze has taken over as the party’s parliamentary group leader in the state parliament.

Schulze defeated the previous group chairman, Guido Heuer, in a contested vote in Magdeburg. Heuer had held the post before the leadership change.

The vote follows the CDU’s poor performance in the state election. The change in the parliamentary group leadership comes as the party faces the political consequences of its result.
