SBC to Offer Free Group Accident Insurance to Performance Compensation Scheme Participants

The Small and Medium Business Corporation (SBC) of South Korea is launching a new initiative to provide free group accident insurance coverage for employees enrolled in its performance-based compensation schemes. This program, set to begin in 2026, aims to offer a crucial safety net for key personnel within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The performance-based compensation scheme, known as 'Seonggwa Bosang Gongje,' involves joint contributions from both companies and their core employees. Upon long-term service, these accumulated funds are disbursed as performance bonuses. Popular products under this umbrella include the 'Naeil Chaeum Gongje' (Tomorrow's Filling Fund) and the preferential savings scheme for SME employees.

By offering complimentary group accident insurance, the SBC intends to mitigate the financial burden that unexpected accidents or disasters can impose on both employees and their employers. This support is particularly vital for SMEs, which may have fewer resources to handle such unforeseen circumstances compared to larger corporations. The initiative underscores the SBC's commitment to fostering a stable and supportive working environment for the SME sector.
