SEAT Ibiza FR 1.5 TSI 2027 returns to Mexico with a more powerful engine

SEAT Mexico has revitalized its Ibiza lineup for 2027, bringing back the FR trim equipped with a potent 1.5-liter turbo engine. This move reintroduces a higher-performance option that had been absent from the Mexican market, positioning the FR variant as the most powerful choice within the Ibiza family. The new configuration promises improved driving dynamics compared to the existing 1.6-liter naturally aspirated and 1.0 TSI engines.

Under the hood, the SEAT Ibiza FR 1.5 TSI boasts a four-cylinder, turbocharged 1.5-liter engine delivering 150 horsepower and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. Power is channeled to the front wheels through a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. This setup enables the Ibiza to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 216 km/h, while achieving a combined fuel consumption of up to 19.8 km/l. Notably, the engine incorporates cylinder deactivation technology (ACT) to optimize fuel efficiency under certain driving conditions.

Beyond its mechanical upgrades, the SEAT Ibiza FR 1.5 TSI 2027 comes equipped with a host of modern features. These include a 9.2-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration via Full Link, a wireless smartphone charger, Climatronic automatic air conditioning, keyless entry and start, Full LED headlights, and front and rear parking sensors. The interior is enhanced with sporty bucket-type seats and a leather-wrapped FR multifunction steering wheel.
