Secondary Schools Finalize Applicant Rankings After Entrance Exams for Non-Talent Programs

The Slovak Ministry of Education, Research, Development, and Youth has announced a significant milestone in the secondary school admission process. As of Thursday, schools have largely completed the ranking of applicants for non-talent-based programs, with over 96% of the 2,478 programs finalized. This marks a crucial step towards ensuring a fair and efficient allocation of students to their desired educational institutions.

The goal of the system is for every student who has been accepted to one or more schools to be confirmed at the school with the highest possible priority, at which they met the admission requirements, and in case of acceptance to other schools, they release their place to other students.

The upcoming phase involves the activation of the ePrihláška automated evaluation system. This system is designed to align parental preferences with the schools' admission results, ensuring that each student admitted to one or more schools is placed in their highest-priority choice. This mechanism is vital for freeing up spots for other deserving students who may have ranked the same school as their top preference but were initially placed lower on the waiting list.

Thanks to this system, other students below the line will get a chance, for whom this school was a dream with the highest priority, and without the release, they would not get into this school.

Final admission results will be published online on June 1. Parents and guardians will be able to access detailed information regarding their child's performance, including scores, rankings, and admission status for each program and school listed on the application. The system also retains the right to appeal, allowing for electronic or paper-based submissions, and provides options for parents to review admission test materials. This comprehensive approach aims to bring clarity and fairness to the admissions process, a matter of significant importance for students and families across Slovakia.
