Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, asserted that security forms the bedrock of any prosperous society, highlighting peace and stability as indispensable for sustainable development. Speaking at a gala night for the 2026 Nigerian Army Day Celebration in Port Harcourt, Fubara, represented by Secretary to the State Government Dr. Dagogo Wokoma, lauded the Nigerian Army's dedication to protecting Nigeria's territorial integrity and ensuring national peace.

Governor Fubara reiterated his administration's dedication to fostering continued collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies operating within Rivers State. He noted that the strong partnership between the state government and the Army's 6 Division has significantly enhanced peace, security, and economic development. "We sincerely appreciate the Nigerian Army’s relentless efforts in maintaining law and order in Rivers State, creating an environment where residents can live and sleep peacefully," he remarked.

In his address, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, mentioned that the Nigerian Army Day Celebration offers a platform to bolster public support, deepen civil-military relations, and implement community development projects. He highlighted that the Army had undertaken several intervention projects, including school renovations and providing solar-powered boreholes, as part of the celebration. Shaibu stressed that achieving lasting national security hinges on citizen trust, cooperation, and active participation. "As an Army, we recognise the indispensable role of the people in supporting our efforts to achieve national security objectives within a joint, multifaceted, and dynamic security environment. Enduring security can only be achieved through a strong partnership between the military, other security agencies, and the communities we are sworn to protect. This understanding forms the basis of our Civil-Military Cooperation Projects," he concluded.
