Security Ministry fires five police officers, four investigated over home entry and weapon theft

Costa Rica’s Public Security Ministry dismissed five Public Force officers over alleged illicit conduct in Guanacaste and the Southern Zone. The dismissals took place without employer liability, according to the report.

Four of the officers are being investigated for allegedly entering a home and taking a firearm. The ministry also linked the dismissed officers to alleged weapons theft and the disclosure of information to drug traffickers.

The cases involve members of the country’s public security force and concern conduct that authorities have classified as potentially criminal. The ministry’s decision removes the five officers from service while investigations continue into the allegations.
