Seongsu 2 District, Facing Scandal Allegations, Re-attempts Contractor Selection; Major Firms Reviewing Cautiously

The Seongsu 2 District redevelopment project, a significant undertaking in Seoul's Seongdong-gu, is once again inviting bids for its construction. This 1.8 trillion won (approximately $1.3 billion USD) "big fish" project is a key focus for the area's urban renewal.

The Seongsu 2 District Reconstruction Union plans to issue the official tender notice for construction companies as early as June 26. Following this, a site briefing session is scheduled for July 6, with the bidding process expected to conclude by July 8.

Industry observers are closely watching to see which major construction firms will enter the race. Companies such as Samsung C&T, DL E&C, Posco E&C, and Hyundai Engineering & Construction are reportedly reviewing their participation, indicating the project's scale and potential.
