Seoul beat Incheon 1-0 in the Gyeongin Derby for a first five-match winning streak

FC Seoul are surging. They defeated Incheon United 1-0 in the Gyeongin Derby at Seoul World Cup Stadium, securing their first five-match winning streak of the season.

The decisive goal came through an Incheon own goal. Incheon were reduced to 10 men just two minutes into the match when defender Kim Geon-hee fouled Seoul’s Klimala while stopping a counterattack and received a straight red card.

Incheon had started brightly. Lee Dong-ryul won the ball in Seoul’s half and quickly tried a left-footed half-volley, but his shot struck the post. The missed chance was followed almost immediately by the dismissal that left Incheon facing the rest of the match with a numerical disadvantage.

Seoul’s victory lifted them to 18 wins, five draws and four defeats, giving them 59 points and a 17-point advantage over second-placed Jeonbuk Hyundai. Jeonbuk moved into second place after Lee Seung-woo produced a goal and an assist. Incheon stayed ninth with nine wins, eight draws and 10 losses, and 34 points.
