Seoul Metropolitan University hosts Youth Employment Council for fourth year

Seoul Metropolitan University's University Job Plus Center convened the working committee for the 'Youth Employment Council' on August 4. This marks the fourth consecutive year the committee has met, bringing together four key institutions: Dongdaemun District Office, Seoul Business Agency, Seoul Metropolitan University, and the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Administration.

The Youth Employment Council was established in October 2023 under the initiative of Seoul Metropolitan University. It serves as a collaborative body comprising government, local government, economic organizations, and universities, all working together to find solutions for regional youth employment challenges. The participating organizations have consistently cooperated through regular meetings to vitalize youth employment policies and support programs.

During the meeting, the University Job Plus Center presented its key projects for regional youth employment activation this year. Notably, the 'UOS OUTREACH' program, which provides career and employment education to vocational high school students, has expanded its reach, involving 561 regional youths from five institutions this year. Additionally, a new program, 'Seoul ANCHOR Youth Employment Academy University+', has been launched to strengthen employment and entrepreneurship capabilities through intensive AI education.

Other institutions also shared their initiatives. The Dongdaemun District Office requested cooperation in promoting its youth employment qualification support program for the second half of the year. The Seoul Business Agency sought promotional support for its Youth Employment Academy courses and a new AI entrepreneur training program. The Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Administration requested promotional assistance for its 'Job Talk' employment preparation concert and the 'Youth ON Lounge,' a space offering customized consultations covering employment, finance, and housing welfare.

In discussions on collaborative measures for regional youth employment activation, all parties agreed to strengthen communication and cooperation. This includes jointly promoting youth employment policies and projects using each institution's promotional channels and collaborating on programs by sharing infrastructure for regional youth career and employment initiatives. Moon Mi-ra, vice chair of the Youth Employment Council and head of Seoul Metropolitan University's Human Resources Development Office, highlighted the significance of the regular meetings and expressed hope for continued discovery of more practical and advanced cooperation methods.
