SeoulTech Student Team Wins Award for Cultural Exchange Platform

A student team from Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) has earned an excellence award for their innovative business idea at the 2026 KDB Startup Education Program's performance sharing event. The team, named Globee, presented a concept for a cultural exchange platform designed to connect elementary school students with international university students.

The program, jointly operated by Korea Development Bank (KDB), the KDB Foundation, and the Korea Foundation for Young Entrepreneurs, aims to discover, support, and nurture young entrepreneurs through practical, curriculum-integrated education. SeoulTech has been a participating university for five consecutive years, consistently fostering student innovation.

Globee's platform proposes facilitating offline cultural exchange classes where Korean elementary students can learn languages and experience global cultures directly from international students. Simultaneously, it offers international students opportunities for local community engagement and income through teaching. The team differentiated their platform with features like LLM-based personalized matching, unique cultural exchange classes drawing from 11 countries' cultures, and the utilization of unused university lecture rooms.

Initial testing of the platform showed strong interest, with 87% of participating international students expressing a desire for continued involvement. University officials also responded positively, seeing potential for collaboration and enhancement of internationalization programs. Parents lauded the platform for providing valuable cross-cultural experiences for their children. The Globee team's success at the event grants them startup scholarships and opportunities for further support programs.
