The Korea Association of Housing Managers received a presidential commendation at an event marking the 32nd Statistics Day, held at the Government Complex in Daejeon on September 1. The award recognized its contribution to advancing statistical administration and the development of national statistics.

The Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea named Choi Soo-seok, a professor of electrical and electronic engineering at POSTECH, as the September recipient of the Korea Science and Technology Award. Choi developed a “real full-color” technology that directly generates and changes wavelengths of light and color across the visible spectrum using chiral nanostructures.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the third Economic Free Zones Day at Seoul’s Shilla Hotel on September 2. The event introduced diplomatic representatives and executives from foreign-invested companies to South Korea’s strategic value, investment appeal and incentives available in its economic free zones.

The Public Procurement Service will hold a special exhibition and flea market for government-procured cultural products at the Government Complex in Daejeon on September 3. The event will feature traditional crafts, instruments and household goods such as spoons and teacups. Visitors can buy products and take part in craft activities.

Sokcho, Gangwon Province, and the Sokcho Culture and Tourism Foundation will recruit 500 participants from September 8 for a September 20 walk along Seoraksan’s ridge trails. They will also accept participants through September 11 for experience booths and a street parade at the Seorak Cultural Festival. Separately, Geumwang Brewery donated 100 million won to the Geumwang Scholarship Foundation to support local talent in North Chungcheong Province.
