Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will begin operating regular routes for the Gyeonggi Western Region Metropolitan Theme Bus on September 12. The service will run through November and connect seven cities, including Bucheon, Hwaseong and Pyeongtaek.

The organizers designed the routes to expand tourism beyond individual cities and let visitors explore destinations while experiencing each area’s distinct character. Further information is available at 7bus.co.kr.

The Korea Council on Social Welfare was selected as an outstanding joint training center at the 17th Best of CHAMP+ National Human Resources Development Consortium awards ceremony, held in Wonju on September 3. Former national football player Ahn Jung-hwan donated 64 million won through Ajou University to support children with cancer.

The Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service appointed Ajou University medical professor Park Rae-woong as chair of its ninth Medical Review and Assessment Committee. The Korea Toray Science and Technology Promotion Foundation selected Kim Sang-gyu of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology for the basic chemistry and materials category, and Kim Yun-hee of Gyeongsang National University for the applied category. Kim Sang-gyu studied the structural dynamics of transition states and conical intersections that determine chemical reaction rates. Kim Yun-hee was recognized for contributing to the development of organic semiconductor research in South Korea.
