Serbia braces for increased traffic, truck delays at borders

Drivers in Serbia should anticipate heavier traffic conditions at the start of the new work week, especially during morning and afternoon hours. The Auto-Moto Association of Serbia (AMSS) has issued a warning about increased congestion, particularly on roads leading to major urban centers and along frequently used city thoroughfares.

Despite the approaching end of the tourist season, traffic remains notably high. This is attributed to a substantial number of transit passengers passing through Serbia, as well as Serbian citizens still heading to summer destinations. The AMSS is advising all drivers to maintain heightened vigilance and to factor in potentially longer travel times, particularly on main routes and highways.

While passenger terminals at border crossings are not experiencing delays, commercial traffic is facing significant wait times. Trucks exiting the country are currently experiencing delays of one hour at the Kelebija crossing and two hours at the Šid crossing. The most substantial delays are reported at the Batrovci border crossing, where trucks are facing an estimated three-hour wait to exit Serbia.
