Serbia braces for weekend traffic surge; Gradina border crossing sees 20-minute delays

Traffic is expected to intensify on Serbia's main roads as the weekend begins, the Automobile Association of Serbia (AMSS) announced. Travelers heading out of the country should anticipate delays, particularly at the Gradina border crossing, where passenger vehicles are currently waiting approximately 20 minutes to exit.

The AMSS noted that increased vehicle numbers are anticipated on highways, routes leading to major cities, and roads connecting to tourist destinations and border crossings. These conditions are typical for the start of a weekend, as many people travel for leisure or return from trips.

For commercial transport, the situation is more severe. Trucks are facing substantial delays, with waits reaching around four hours at the Batrovci border crossing. This highlights a significant bottleneck for freight movement. Meanwhile, toll stations on the highways are reportedly operating without delays, indicating that the congestion is primarily at border points and on specific travel routes rather than at payment infrastructure.

Drivers should also be aware that numerous road sections are currently undergoing construction. While specific details on these works were not provided, they could potentially add to travel times and require diversions. The AMSS did not specify the duration or impact of these construction projects.
