Serbia Faces Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms, Heatwave Expected Midweek

Serbia's Republic Hydrometeorological Service (RHMZ) has issued warnings for significant rainfall and thunderstorms across several regions, including Belgrade, Srem, and Šumadija. The agency reported that the current cloud cover, which is bringing intermittent rain and isolated showers with thunder, is expected to shift eastward towards southern Banat and Pomoravlje between 5 PM and 6 PM.

In the capital, Belgrade, dark clouds gathered around 5 PM, accompanied by strengthening winds. Some parts of the city, such as New Belgrade and Železnik, began experiencing rain. The RHMZ indicated that other areas would remain mostly dry with moderate cloud cover.

Looking towards the coming days, the RHMZ forecasts variable cloudiness with sunny intervals and the possibility of local, short-lived rain or thunderstorms. Winds will be light to moderate, becoming occasionally strong in mountainous areas. A significant shift is expected from Wednesday, as a heatwave is predicted to bring maximum temperatures ranging from 34 to 38 degrees Celsius, with some locations potentially reaching around 40 degrees.
