Serbia Issues Nationwide Emergency Warning for Severe, Prolonged Heatwave

Serbia is bracing for a significant weather event as a nationwide emergency warning has been issued for a strong and prolonged heatwave. The warning indicates that the country can expect extreme temperatures, with maximums ranging between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius, persisting for a minimum of five consecutive days. This period of intense heat is set to begin on July 30.

The forecast highlights the severity of the approaching heat, with meteorologists predicting sunny and warm conditions leading up to the peak of the heatwave. The rising temperatures have already prompted the activation of weather alerts across various regions. An orange meteoalarm, signifying potentially hazardous weather, has been issued for Bačka, Banat, Pomoravlje, and southeastern Serbia.

In addition to these areas, the rest of the country is under a yellow meteoalarm, indicating a lower but still notable risk. This widespread alert system underscores the national concern and preparedness measures being put in place to address the anticipated heatwave and its potential impact on public health and infrastructure.
