Serbia Will Never Allow 'Storms' Again, Vows President Vučić

Speaking at a commemoration for Serbs displaced and killed in Croatia's "Operation Storm," Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić declared that Serbia will never again permit such events or pogroms against its people. He stressed that maintaining peace and stability is paramount for Serbia, which he described as currently stronger than ever economically, militarily, and in other aspects.

"Time, peace, and security work for us," Vučić stated, urging Serbs to remain disciplined and united. He warned against internal divisions, particularly what he termed "salon nationalists" who he believes foster detrimental polycentric views of Serbian identity, pitting Belgrade against Banja Luka and Novi Sad against Belgrade. He asserted that such divisions weaken both Serbia and the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Vučić highlighted the emergence of a new generation of Serbs unafraid to speak truth and endure insults while remembering Serbian victims. He questioned whether Croatian officials have ever paid respects at sites of Serbian suffering in Croatia, recalling historical grievances, including Serbia's losses in World War I and alleged atrocities during World War II.

We must know what our vital national interests are… Among us Serbs, there are two groups of people working against Serbian national interests - one group always against Serbs because they work for someone else. Much more dangerous are the others, the salon nationalists, who talk about polycentric Serbdom, who pit Belgrade against Banja Luka, Novi Sad against Belgrade... that is the disintegration of Serbia and Serbdom. We will not allow that.

"Serbia is strong enough today, both militarily and economically, to not allow it," Vučić asserted regarding the possibility of future "Storms" or pogroms. He also criticized the international community for not condemning Croatia's "aggression" against Republika Srpska during the Bosnian War. Vučić reiterated that all Serbs are one people, regardless of their location, and warned against attempts to create divisions, stating Serbia would reciprocate any attempts to label or divide them.
