Serbian Competition Commission approves sale of media group ANN

Serbia's Commission for Protection of Competition has officially approved the sale of media assets belonging to the Adria News Network (ANN). The confirmation was issued to the Syndicate of Nova portal and newspaper and Radar weekly, which is part of the UGS Nezavisnost union.

The approved transaction involves the acquisition of ANN's media outlets by European Future Media Investments S.C.S., a subsidiary of Alpak Capital. The commission stated that after conducting the necessary review, the market concentration was approved. The procedure was formally initiated on June 8, 2026.

Adria News Network encompasses a significant portfolio of media properties in the region, including the Nova portal and newspaper, the Radar weekly, TV Nova, TV N1, and the Danas newspaper. The acquisition signifies a notable shift in media ownership within Serbia and potentially the wider region.

Pedro Vargas Santos David, the owner of Alpak Capital, recently announced that the company had secured all required approvals from relevant institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This suggests a coordinated effort to finalize the media group's transfer across multiple jurisdictions.
