Serbian man holds children hostage after shooting at police in Germany

A tense standoff is unfolding in Dortmund, Germany, where a 51-year-old Serbian citizen is suspected of shooting at a police officer and subsequently barricading himself inside an apartment with two young children, whom authorities believe he is holding hostage. The situation escalated rapidly after an initial incident at a local restaurant.

According to reports from German media, the suspect allegedly threatened patrons at the restaurant, brandished a club, and used pepper spray before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. When police officers arrived at a residential building following a woman's call for help, the situation intensified. Investigators stated the suspect approached the officers and fired a small-caliber pistol, hitting one officer's protective vest.
