Serbian Parliament Concludes Debate on 59 Agenda Items; Voting Set for Monday

The Serbian Parliament has concluded its debate on a comprehensive agenda of 59 items, with all discussions finalized. Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić has scheduled the voting session for Monday, August 31, at 10 a.m., bringing the legislative process for these matters to a crucial stage.

The extensive agenda covered a wide range of critical issues for the country. Lawmakers engaged in discussions on the state budget revision for 2026, proposed financial assistance measures for citizens, and significant legislative proposals including the Law on Prevention of Corruption and the Law on the Judicial Academy. These deliberations reflect the government's focus on economic stability, social welfare, and institutional reform.

Discussions on the final few agenda points, which included amendments to the Law on Planning and Construction, as well as laws concerning the registration and recording of immovable property and state borrowing for infrastructure projects like highways and express roads, could not be completed due to time constraints. These specific legislative efforts aim to streamline development processes and secure funding for vital transportation networks.

The tenth extraordinary session of the parliament was convened at the request of 109 national deputies, highlighting the urgency and importance of the matters addressed. Minister of Finance Siniša Mali emphasized the impact of the proposed legislation, stating that if adopted, the laws would enable the state to provide one-time financial assistance to pensioners, social welfare recipients, child benefit recipients, and veterans starting September 14. Furthermore, all adult citizens are set to receive 6,000 dinars between September 22 and 25, underscoring the government's commitment to supporting its populace.
