Serbian President's TV Appearances Spark Campaign Comparisons

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has been highly visible on television, making 49 live appearances in the first 11 days of August, according to the NGO Center for Research, Transparency and Accountability (CRTA). This frequency is notably higher than in the previous year, when he appeared 24 times throughout the entire month of August.

CRTA observed that Vucic's media presence strongly resembles an election campaign, with a significant portion of his airtime dedicated to infrastructure projects and regional relations. The NGO noted that his promises were broadcast across 25 television stations, including public broadcasters and national channels.

During his appearances, Vucic's core messages emphasized Serbia's ongoing construction and development as evidence of effective state leadership. He also conveyed that the country is secure, despite perceived ill intentions from its neighbors. CRTA also commented on Vucic's limited focus on domestic audiences regarding the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with only two appearances primarily addressing international affairs.
