Serena and Venus Williams to reunite for Cincinnati doubles event

Tennis fans will have the chance to see Serena and Venus Williams compete together again. The two former champions received a wild card for the doubles event at the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, with their comeback scheduled for mid-August.

The Williams sisters are regarded as the most successful pair in the history of women's tennis. Throughout their careers, they have won 22 titles together, including 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals. These achievements have secured them a special place in the sport's history.

The WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, scheduled from August 13 to 24, will see Serena and Venus Williams team up again in the doubles competition. After Serena partnered with Victoria Mboko at Queen's and Karolina Muchova in Berlin, she will now pair with her sister.

Serena Williams, who will turn 45 in September, boasts 73 singles titles and 23 women's doubles titles. Venus Williams, aged 46, has won 49 singles titles and 24 women's doubles titles. Together, these tennis legends have amassed an impressive 173 career titles, solidifying their status as some of the most accomplished players in the sport's history.

Their return to doubles is particularly special as the sisters have not played as a team since 2022. Their last appearance together was at the US Open, where they were defeated in the first round. They were scheduled to play together again at Wimbledon in July, but Serena's knee injury forced her withdrawal.
