Serena Williams to Make Competitive Return at Queen's Club Alongside Victoria Mboko

Tennis icon Serena Williams is making a highly anticipated return to professional tennis, set to compete in the women's doubles at the Queen's Club Championships alongside Canada's Victoria Mboko. This marks Williams' first tournament appearance since the 2022 US Open.

The 44-year-old American, a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, had previously suggested she was "evolving away from tennis." However, her re-entry into the anti-doping testing pool last year fueled speculation about a comeback, which has now been confirmed.

Williams and the 19-year-old Mboko have been granted a wildcard for the doubles draw at Queen's Club. Mboko expressed her excitement on Instagram, calling it an "honor to share the court with one of the greatest athletes of all time." She added, "Even more excited to play doubles together! Tennis is pretty special."

Williams, who has won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles with her sister Venus, will participate in the WTA 500 tournament in London from June 8 to 14. Mboko, ranked ninth in singles, has previously cited Williams as her "idol."
