Serious accident: Three dead in head-on collision near Nienburg

A severe head-on collision on a federal road in the Nienburg district has resulted in the tragic deaths of three individuals. The accident occurred on Saturday when a 66-year-old man, driving at excessive speed and erratically swerving, veered into the opposing lane of traffic.

According to police reports, the 66-year-old driver's vehicle first made contact with the car of a 69-year-old woman, who managed to swerve and sustained minor injuries. Subsequently, the 66-year-old's car collided head-on with the vehicle directly behind hers. His car then overturned.

The 66-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The 63-year-old driver of the second car and his 60-year-old female passenger also succumbed to their injuries at the accident site. The road remained closed for approximately five hours as authorities conducted their investigation, which is ongoing.
