Seven die, two injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash

A fatal road crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has claimed the lives of seven individuals, with two others sustaining injuries. The incident occurred around midnight on Monday, involving three vehicles: a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC truck, a white MACK trailer, and a Mitsubishi Canter.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that all nine victims were male. The crash happened near Kara, with the FRSC's Ibafo Outpost Command arriving at the scene just minutes after receiving the report. Preliminary findings suggest that excessive speed was the likely cause of the accident, though further investigation is pending.

Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Oludare Ogunjobi, has issued a call to motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles. He urged them to adhere to speed limits, maintain safe distances, and exercise caution, especially during nighttime driving when visibility is reduced and fatigue can be a factor. The injured victims were transported for medical treatment, while the deceased were evacuated by the Ogun State Ambulance Service. The crashed vehicles were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further action.
