Seven Injured, Including Two Children, in Belgian Highway Pile-up

A multi-vehicle collision on the E403 highway near Kachtem, Belgium, left seven people injured, including two children, in the early hours of Saturday. The incident unfolded around 2:30 a.m. when a black Opel Corsa reportedly came to a near standstill on the highway, close to the Kachtem exit which is currently closed for roadworks. Authorities suspect the driver may have been disoriented.

A white van traveling behind could not brake in time and crashed into the back of the Opel. The van's driver sustained injuries, as did the four occupants of the Opel, two of whom were children. Firefighters had to extract the four individuals from the car before they were all transported to the hospital. The severity of their injuries remains unclear.

The initial impact sent debris flying, with the van ending up in the opposite lane. Shortly after, two more cars collided near the first accident scene. These two drivers were also taken to the hospital with injuries. In total, seven people were injured, leaving four wrecked cars and numerous fragments scattered across the E403. Police closed the highway entirely to clear the wreckage, which took hours despite limited traffic due to the late hour.
