Seven Killed in Separate Road Accidents Across Bangladesh

Tragic road accidents claimed the lives of at least seven people across Bangladesh yesterday in separate incidents in Sylhet, Natore, and Munshiganj. The collisions involved a mix of vehicles, including oil tankers, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, buses, lorries, and trucks.

In Sylhet's Osmaninagar upazila, an oil tanker collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. Four people, including a family of three and the auto-rickshaw driver, died. Two victims perished at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. The deceased were identified as Niyamat Ali, 45; his wife Ojufa, 30; their daughter Ayesha, 5; and auto-rickshaw driver Lalon Miah, 23. Two other children from the family, Maria, 7, and Yakub, 3, sustained critical injuries.

Further north, in Natore Sadar's Ramaigachhi area, a bus hit a three-wheeler on the Rajshahi-Natore highway, killing the three-wheeler's driver, Syed Mia, 45, and passenger Sabbir Hossain, 23, instantly. Police seized the bus, but the driver escaped.

In Munshiganj, a lorry carrying fish fry collided with a truck near Jamaldi Bus Stand on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Gajaria upazila early in the morning. The lorry driver, Tota Mia, 32, died at the scene. The lorry's driver, Ruman, 28, suffered critical injuries. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding these fatal accidents.
