Several Injured in Croatian Train Collision; None Critically Endangered

A severe train collision between a freight and a passenger train near Škrinjari, Croatia, has resulted in multiple injuries, though none are life-threatening, according to officials.

Minister of Transport Oleg Butković visited injured individuals at KBC Zagreb, reporting that three patients there have severe but stable injuries. Other injured passengers are being treated at various hospitals, including Vinogradska hospital, Bjelovar General Hospital, and one patient airlifted to KBC Zagreb. Butković spoke with the passenger train's driver and two passengers who were able to communicate.

None of the injured in the train collision are life-threateningly endangered.

The accident happened shortly after 10 a.m. on the railway line between Sveti Ivan Žabno and Gradec stations. Investigations into the cause are being conducted by the police, the state attorney's office, and the Agency for Investigation of Accidents. Butković stated he could not comment on the cause while the investigation is ongoing. Emergency services, firefighters, and local residents were praised for their swift response in evacuating and assisting the injured.

All three patients are in the intensive care unit, have severe bodily injuries, but have stable vital functions and a good recovery is expected.
