Severina Again Calls for Saturday’s Protest in Lika

Severina has renewed her call for Saturday’s protest for Lika, using Instagram stories that combine lyrics from her song “Djevojka sa sela” with posts from the activist pages Seksizam naš svagdašnji and Grof Darkula.

The shared posts recalled her earlier public engagement, including support for Kamensko workers in 2010, opposition to the constitutional definition of marriage in 2013, participation in the Pride parade, support for Mirela Čavajda and the “Moj glas, moj izbor” initiative, and appearances linked to environmental and Palestinian causes.

Walk for Lika

Severina thanked the activist accounts and other citizens for supporting the campaign. She said ideological divisions should not matter and urged people to gather under the slogan “Walk for Lika.” The song reference also recalled its role as an unofficial anthem of Croatia’s football team during the 1998 World Cup in France.

The dispute intensified after Severina called for the protest during a performance at the Karlovac Beer Days and mentioned former Croatia international Igor Štimac and his family. She contrasted the unity surrounding the national team in the past with criticism directed at her for raising pollution concerns in Lika. Štimac later responded in a lengthy Facebook post about the protest, government and opposition, and his father’s life and career. Other public figures, including Goran Višnjić and Baby Lasagna, have also called for people to attend.
