Sexologist Huang Yue-sui Diagnosed with Severe Spinal Condition

Taiwanese sexologist Huang Yue-sui, 79, has been diagnosed with a severe spinal condition after experiencing debilitating pain that made it difficult for her to stand. The condition involves severe spondylolisthesis at the L4-L5 vertebrae and S1, along with bone spurs pressing on her nerves.

Huang reported that about a month prior, she began suffering intense pain near her tailbone, which at times left her unable to stand. The pain later radiated from her back to her lower right abdomen. Initial treatment at a local clinic, involving injections and anti-inflammatory medication, proved ineffective after a week.

Further examination at a major hospital, including X-rays and an MRI, revealed bone spurs in her hip joint and the severe lumbar slippage. Although her condition does not currently necessitate surgery, doctors have advised her to increase her walking and avoid sitting for extended periods.

Reflecting on her experience, Huang emphasized the arduous work of medical professionals and called for greater attention to healthcare staffing issues. She expressed a hope that frontline medical workers would receive better working conditions and respect.
