Sharjah Civil Defence Mandates Enhanced School Safety Measures

Sharjah Civil Defence is urging schools to bolster their safety measures as the new academic year approaches. The authority stressed the critical importance of embedding safety protocols into the daily routines of school environments. This proactive approach aims to ensure the protection of both students and staff, fostering a secure learning atmosphere throughout the year.

School administrations are specifically directed to verify that fire alarm and firefighting systems, including extinguishers, are fully operational. Regular inspections and necessary maintenance are required. Furthermore, emergency exits, evacuation routes, and corridors must be kept free of any obstructions that could impede a swift and safe evacuation process.

The authority also called for immediate attention to any identified safety concerns. It warned against obstructing, disabling, or covering fire protection equipment. Additionally, schools are advised to promote the safe use of electrical appliances and connections, cautioning against overloading sockets and the use of damaged wires or equipment.
