Sharjah to open new schools and nurseries under Dh500 million investment plan

Sharjah is putting Dh500 million into a broad programme of school and nursery projects, from new facilities to expansions and maintenance work. The programme aims to create modern and safe learning environments across the emirate.

The Sharjah Public Works Department is carrying out the projects with the Sharjah Private Education Authority. The work covers schools, nurseries, early-childhood centres, and academic, sports and residential facilities. Coordination between the two bodies is intended to ensure that new facilities meet licensing, safety, operational and technical requirements.

In Sharjah city, the department has completed Mehzb School on a 30,000-square-metre site. The school can serve 400 students and was completed in 60 days. Its facilities include administration and medical buildings, an early-childhood section for 150 children, and a first-to-fourth-grade section for 250 students across 10 classrooms.

The campus also includes a 117-seat theatre that can double as a multipurpose hall, science and computer laboratories, a cafeteria and other support facilities. The early-childhood building has six classrooms, while the administration building includes seven offices and a meeting room.

The department has expanded early-childhood centres in Al Suyoh and Al Rahmaniya. Al Ruqaybah 1 received four classrooms and capacity for 96 additional children, while Shaghrafa 1 received six classrooms with capacity for 150 children. Maintenance has also been completed at Al Qulaya Nursery and the Pakistani Islamic School in Al Ghubaiba. Construction continues on four government nurseries in Al Abbar, Al Muwarraq, Kshisha and Al Noaf.
