Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid launches ‘The Letters,’ second book in ‘Lessons from Life’ series

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has opened his new book with a letter to the man he calls his brother, friend and companion on the journey, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“The Letters” is the second part of the Dubai ruler’s “Lessons from Life” series. It brings together 26 letters addressed to his family, team, the people of the UAE and readers around the world.

Today, you are that spirit.

In the opening letter, Sheikh Mohammed reflects on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s milestones and the qualities he has come to know through decades of shared work and partnership. He writes that cities, buildings and facilities can be created, but the most important element is the spirit of a nation, which unites its people, preserves stability, inspires generations and awakens young people’s enthusiasm. “Today,” he writes directly to the UAE president, “You are that spirit.”

Life has taught me that our years are part of the story of our nations. Wisdom lies in adding a chapter worthy of being read by the generations to come.

Sheikh Mohammed says the letters grew from lessons gathered over nearly six decades of public service. He looks back at decisions, completed projects and experiences, while presenting the book as a trust to future generations. “Life has taught me that our years are part of the story of our nations,” he writes. “Wisdom lies in adding a chapter worthy of being read by the generations to come.”

The collection continues his effort to share experience and knowledge across different fields. It also represents a contribution to Arabic literature through letter writing, with reflections drawn from the experience of Dubai and the UAE and intended to inspire leaders, decision-makers and young people shaping the future.
