Sheinbaum Attends 2026 World Cup Final, Sits With Global Leaders

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum represented her country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, held at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. She arrived Sunday afternoon for the championship match between Argentina and Spain.

Photos circulating on social media showed Sheinbaum in a VIP box. She was seated with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, former U.S. First Lady Melania Trump, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Former U.S. President Donald Trump had extended the invitation to Sheinbaum for the game, which took place on Friday.

Sheinbaum arrived in New York the previous night and was greeted by Mexican migrants and supporters. Earlier on Sunday, she departed from her Manhattan hotel, accompanied by Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco. U.S. media reported her arrival at the stadium around midday.

No official announcement has been made regarding any private trilateral meetings between Sheinbaum and U.S. authorities or her Canadian and U.S. counterparts.
