Sheinbaum finalizes venue for May 31 report; Zócalo unavailable due to World Cup preparations

Sheinbaum clarified that the event is not a formal government report but rather a political and accountability exercise marking two years since the June 2, 2024, presidential election. The intention is to hold a national event, broadcasting her administration's progress over the past year and a half via screens in public squares across all 32 federal states. The report also aims to counter what Sheinbaum described as a "media offensive" and to reaffirm the principle that decisions about Mexico's sovereignty rest solely with the Mexican people. A meeting was scheduled to finalize the exact location in the capital, as the Zócalo is partially occupied by fan zones and related activities for the upcoming World Cup, leaving limited space and ongoing construction. Consequently, other options within the National Palace and different venues in Mexico City are being evaluated, alongside the logistics for the nationwide screen installations.
