Shettima to Unveil Ex-MNJTF Commander’s Book on Counterterrorism War

Nigeria is set to launch a significant new book detailing its protracted struggle against terrorism in the North-east. The publication, titled Counterterrorism and Counterinsurgency Operations in Northeast Nigeria, is authored by retired Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf, a former Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF). The unveiling ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, in Abuja, will be graced by Vice President Kashim Shettima as the Special Guest of Honour, underscoring the importance the government places on documenting and analyzing the nation's security challenges.

The public presentation is scheduled to hold at the National Defence College, Abuja, beginning.

The book promises to offer invaluable insights from Yusuf's extensive operational experience, providing strategic perspectives and lessons learned from years of military campaigns against Boko Haram and other terrorist factions. Shettima is expected to attend as the Special Guest of Honour and Chief Unveiler alongside governors, members of the National Assembly, the Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, retired military chiefs, diplomats and other major stakeholders in Nigeria’s security architecture.
