Shin Bet chief David Zini met former Fatah official during wartime UAE visit - report

Shin Bet chief David Zini met with Mohammed Dahlan, a former Fatah official exiled in the United Arab Emirates, during a recent visit to the UAE, according to a report by KAN News. Dahlan has been living in Abu Dhabi since 2011, following accusations by Mahmoud Abbas that he was involved in Yasser Arafat's murder.

The Shin Bet agency stated that it does not comment on the chief's schedule. This meeting comes amid reports of significant security coordination between Israel and the UAE during the ongoing conflict. Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal reported that Mossad chief David Barnea had visited the UAE at least twice in March and April for discussions related to the war.

Mohammed Dahlan was previously considered by US, Israeli, and Arab officials as a potential candidate to lead Gaza after the current Israel-Hamas war. However, the technocratic committee currently administering the Gaza Strip is led by Ali Shaath. Shaath has held various roles within the Palestinian Authority, including deputy minister of planning and international cooperation and undersecretary at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
