Shinan's Purple Island to feature Lysimachia clethroides garden this summer

Shinan County's Purple Island is set to unveil a new Lysimachia clethroides garden, offering visitors a vibrant purple landscape from mid-June to mid-September. This initiative aims to enhance the island's unique appeal, which is already characterized by its pervasive purple theme, from the "Purple Bridge" connecting its islets to the colorful flowers that bloom throughout the seasons.

The island, encompassing Banwol Island and Bakji Island, has been transformed into a tourist destination with a distinct aesthetic. Since 2022, the county has cultivated approximately 400,000 Lysimachia clethroides plants across a 39,000-square-meter area on Banwol Island, creating a signature scenic spot. The island's color palette shifts with the seasons: lavender in spring, Lysimachia clethroides in summer, and asters in autumn, all contributing to its "purple" identity.

A county official expressed readiness to provide an "excellent landscape" through the newly reorganized Lysimachia clethroides garden. The Purple Island offers a unique travel experience, blending its purple flower fields with the surrounding sea, sky, and mudflats, complemented by various photo zones. This development underscores Shinan County's ongoing efforts to attract tourists with its distinctive natural and cultivated beauty.
