Shinhwa's Kim Dong-wan to continue activities without management agency

Kim Dong-wan, a member of the K-pop group Shinhwa, has announced his decision to continue his entertainment activities independently, without signing with a management agency. The singer shared his conclusion on his Threads account, stating that after extensive deliberation, he believes operating without an agency aligns best with his current needs and preferences.

"After considering various factors, I've concluded that continuing to work without an agency is the most suitable path for me," Kim Dong-wan wrote on Threads. He expressed his intention to continue interacting with fans through "good dongchimi (radish kimchi) and Threads," suggesting a continuation of his personal online presence.

This decision comes after a period of public scrutiny for Kim Dong-wan. He previously generated controversy in February for remarks perceived as condoning sex work, which led to the temporary closure of his social media account. Although he later reopened the account, he had stated in May that his Instagram and Threads accounts would be managed by his office, signaling an attempt to curb further public missteps.

More recently, Kim Dong-wan reflected on his past actions, admitting to having "done many irresponsible things" despite considering himself responsible. He also mentioned an intention to avoid reading or engaging with potentially problematic content online, seemingly in response to discussions about algorithms and online content exposure.
