Shock announcement: Princess Cruises leaves Taiwan market

Princess Cruises has announced its departure from the Taiwan market, ending a local presence that began in 2013.

The company said its Taiwan branch’s website, social-media platforms and local sales operations would stop serving customers from August 31, 2026. It will no longer accept new bookings through the local operator after that date.

Passengers with existing reservations will continue to receive service and support, with contact information provided for assistance. Future customers will need to check itineraries and make purchases through Princess Cruises’ global website or other overseas websites.

The Taiwan website is already showing only a service-termination notice. The announcement came as a surprise because Taiwan had once been Princess Cruises’ third-largest customer market worldwide.

Founded in 1965 and headquartered in Los Angeles, the luxury cruise brand became widely known after the American television series The Love Boat filmed on location with the company in 1977.
