Shock in European Power's Military: Elite Special Forces Drones Sent Data to China

A significant security lapse has been uncovered within the British military, as maritime drones utilized by elite special forces were discovered to be transmitting data to China. The K3 Scout sea drones, part of a £12 million fleet acquired by the Royal Marines in March, were found to have cameras containing Chinese-manufactured components. These components were sending "heartbeat" signals, data confirming devices are active and functioning, to an IP address in China.

The discovery has fueled concerns that Beijing may be attempting to spy on the British military, echoing years of warnings about the security threats posed by China. The Ministry of Defence was compelled to disconnect all internet connectivity from the cameras upon learning of the breach. The drones were supplied by Kraken Technology Group, a major UK defense sector firm, which had reportedly received assurances of the cameras' security from an external supplier.

While the Ministry of Defence emphasized that there is no evidence suggesting sensitive data or systems were transmitted abroad, the incident highlights a critical vulnerability. The revelation comes amid ongoing security concerns and warnings about China's potential to compromise military operations and intelligence gathering.
