Shooting and Molotov cocktail attack in same street in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek

A violent night unfolded in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek, with two separate incidents occurring on Industriekaai within hours of each other. The first event, a shooting, left one person injured late Monday night, according to local police.

Authorities received a report of the shooting around 10 p.m. Officers arriving at the scene found an injured individual, who was subsequently taken to the hospital. Their condition is no longer life-threatening. The Brussels public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation, with a weapons expert and the federal police's judicial lab dispatched to the scene.

Just hours later, around 4:50 a.m., police were alerted to a second incident on the same street. An individual threw a Molotov cocktail at the facade of a residence. The resulting fire was quickly extinguished and caused no injuries, police confirmed. The judicial lab also attended this scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

It remains unclear whether the shooting and the arson are connected. Police have declined to comment further on either incident due to the ongoing investigations.
